The Portugal Resident is reporting 39 dead and at least 50 injured.

It would seem we lost our house and the old Merc.
Thankfully our tenants managed to escape but they lost everything.

Still sketchy reports as power and mobile phone masts are down.

Champagne all round - Simon is paying :-)

That was a bit frivolous, but their house was saved after all, thanks to heroic actions. So a huge relief!

On a more serious note: all the Juntas near me have become collection points for badly needed goods. No doubt lots of Juntas are doing the same.

It's a bit early but as it is the day of Simon's funeral it is totally legit to open several bottles and have a toast to Simon and Emma. Simon, you were a terrific forum master and a lovely person with a wicked sense of humor. Emma, I hope you are bearing up and that soon the memories of the fun times will override the memories of the sad/difficult times. Cheers!
