Yes I got a response from the book authors - they didn't update this info from the 1st edition! Great.

"After checking the information we could verify that item 11.2 of the Portuguese Property Guide indicates the period of six months, which was the applicable period according to the law in force when published the 1st edition. Although the item 11 (page 18) of 3rd edition says that “imported goods such as caravans, yachts or other motor vehicles must have been in use in the country of origin for at least 12 months prior to departure”, by discrepancy, this information was not indicated in item 11.2. Thus, the correct period is 12 months."

Hi Peter, thanks so much for your help with this. I wonder in terms of utility bills to show proof of living in the uk, which ones did they request? I'm thinking we could continue to pay some to get up to 12mths. Say council tax and water rates, would 2 items be enough do you think? Cheers

I am not sure where that comes from" things in the Algarve are slower than anywhere else in PT".
I find them very efficient and more likely to speak English.
I thought long and hard about matriculation and decided to sell my car at home and buy a left-hand drive, so much safer. My opinion mind.

I don't know the nearest Customs office but the Coja says you may be in my area why not plan a day out to visit a local Customs office. I am sure that the local Finacas office may know the nearest.

I am at the market at Barril be Alva next Saturday if you want to meet up, just outside of Coja.

Hi Peter, thank you so much for your help and kind offer to meet up. We hope to be setting off on saturday, so won't arrive until late sunday - but this depends on progress with the house sale. It's difficult to plan any dates at this stage, so removals and storage etc.. all proving a bit tricky.

If you're around that neck of the woods after that let me know. It would be great to have a good chat and learn from your experiences. thanks again
