Does anyone know if there are any palms which are not affected by these Weevils , i just lost 4 date palms but still want some sort of palms as a replacement

Here most of the palms with the exception of the fan palms have been killed by the beetle.

Our palm is one of the few that has survived as I have treated it's crown with insecticide (15 litres of dilute Confidor) every two months. But you need a license to buy most strong agricultural chemicals nowdays.

Last October´s fire set light to the fibre that collects at the base of the fronds, and this severely weakened the tree. Fortunately it did not kill the central heart which is now quite strong again and producing new fronds and flowers.
