Hello, we have usually received our IMI demands by post in the UK by now - we have not. We have looked on the portaldasfinancias and can't find it there. We will be at our home in Pt later this week. Any observations? Thank you.

The 1st instalment is due by the end of May this year.

Thank you RichardH. Due to the size of our property we pay in one lump sum. Is the end of May still the deadline or is that only for instalments? Cheers.

It's the first (or only, if applicable) payment that's due by the end of May but they've also lowered the threshold for multiple payments to 100€, so you may have more than one payment this year.

Again, thank you. Have I missed a communication? Is there something on the financias website?

The official details of the new dates and thresholds are at https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/p ... s_2019.pdf on the Portal das Finanças.

Richard, do you know if one can make total payment in May if one wishes, even when it is above 100€?

I suspect that a single payment might not be the best way but once the charges are available on the Portal you can get the payment references for each instalment and can set up separate payments for each instalment, either timed for May, November and August (if required) or all paid immediately.

Mine's now paid by direct debit so I don't have to think about it any more!

Hi Richard,
After 8 years excemption, we have to pay IMI this year for the first time.
Do the Finances send us a bill, or do we have to go into finance office with our details?
I am not confident enough to use that Pt. website!

We too would be happier paying one lump sum even though I am sure it will be well over
100 euros (judging by my neighbour´s bill).

Mrs. T.
