Anyone know if this satellite is still working ?

And if it is any recommendation for someone in Eastern Algarve who knows what they are doing and could quote for installation ?

Its definitely still working but how long it continues to do so is completely random. The satellite itself is approaching end of life and will have very little fuel left. The feed is used as a backup in the UK but the world is changing and this is old tech now - we are moving back to direct physical connection via Fibre.

I wouldn't spend too much on installation as the Satellite feeds could go off in an hour, a week, a month or a fresh layer of encryption could be added that would block completely.

If you have reasonable speed internet then I would also take a look at IPTV boxes like MAG 322 which are £60 on Ebay and will give you a lot more channels.

Am aware of the risks ( though ppl seem to have been saying this about 907 for at least four years ~presumably it does serve some purpose ?? ).

Prob for me over internet is that I will not be in Portugal ( at least not for a year or two ~may change then ) for more than four months a year ~so does not really justify a year long internet connection. Currently I use ( when in Portugal or France ) a wifi portable connection from THREE which is fine for websurfing and emails, but would not of course last very long watching TV or Netflix.

So a one off charge for installation and connection of Intelsat 907 might suit me. I accept there would be this risk that at any moment it is switched off. Also, I quite like the idea of having tv which just comes through the air ~ you switch it on and there it is, without the faffing around with modems, VPNs and whatnot.

I wonder how many people using this Forum still use Intelsat 907 ??
