Ola,

That's about as far as my Portuguese go at the moment. Does anyone know any good land management people, as we know with the fire new regulations has come in and we just bought our property of 3.4ha which has not been maintained for over 25 years so we need a lot of clearance done so any help or info would be great.

O, and I know this one, Obrigado

I would have thought that :

immediate neighbours;
the solicitador /a through whom your purchased;
the estate agent who introduced you to the property ( if any )

would be good places to start. Local knowledge is essential.

It may well be that the neighbours have plans for compliance and may have the necessary machinery for cutting back grass / lopping tree branches etc. which they might lend or hire to you. Or they might well agree to do the work as well for this year in exchange for a modest fee.

There were devastating fires last summer so I imagine that the authorities will be particularly severe in ensuring compliance.

I am just thinking aloud but it may also be the case that if you can find the base of your nearest Bombeiros they may have someone who can advise and put you in touch with the necessary people to do the work.

Hi that will be a big job---- you will need a good crew or some decent machinery------ if you live on the land have you thought of 'workaways'---????--- if you have trees maybe swap some wood for the cost of clearing????
Where are you and what sort of terrain is it????

Hi
If you are near Lousa you could try www.baldioslousa.com, they can do land clearance if they have spare time. I think it costs about 100€-150€ for an acre, depending on the amount of work needed.

Bob.

Hi All

Sorry for the delay for some reason your messages never reached my personal inbox but thank you for all the replies. We are near Martinchel, Abrantes, Santarem. The land is roughly 3.4ha and in a valley so slope area with some woodland. We are not currently living here permanently yet as the house need complete renovation so we are going through all the pains and aches of planing etc. Also if some knows any good fence companies around please.
