Hello, I have just joined. I am actually living in California, but I'm writing a novel that takes place in Braga and would like to find some answers for certain questions that my research hasn't answered. My husband and I will also be going to Braga in May to firm up some details, but that is five months off.

I'll be most appreciative of any help any of you can give me, and you will be well acknowledged when the book becomes published. (My agent is very enthused about this book.)

Sincerely, Elizabeth Varadan

Pm me if you like, where not far from Braga plus frequent visitors there and have numerous friends over that way so one of us should be able to help with some answers

Chas and Linda, Glad to meet you. I have three questions for now:

1.In the Jardim de Santa Barbara, what flowers would be blooming in May?

2.In that same garden, I can see in pictures that the paths are a pinkish tan. Do you know if they are brick? Terra cotta? Painted Cement? Tile?

3.Braga has so many churches and cathedrals. Do they all chime at once? Do they chime on the hour? half hour? quarter hour? And is there a time when they chime a tune of some kind?

Answers to any of these will be so helpful. Thanks.

I'll be over there early January so I'll double check before answering, bells are generally on the hour and the half, timings are slightly staggered, this time of year all or certainly most of the Braga churches are outlined in white lights, yes they do have different peals for various masses, funerals etc but tunes? I email some locals :)

Thanks, this is helpful, and I look forward to your reply after your visit.

Oh, I do have one more question: In the old part of town, if they (my fictional couple) are renting an apartment for some time, would they have a place to part their car? Or would they have to park on the street?

Elizabeth Varadan, have you still been living in Braga?
