The Shabby Chic Boutique
The Shabby Chic Boutique has just opened in Lousã offering a unique and inspiring range of beautiful homewares, introducing a radical departure from the modern Portuguese style of interior design.
The store is the brainchild of Portuguese restoration builder Carlos Martins and is styled by English-American designer Jennifer Johnson. Their stock includes furniture - both large scale, architectural pieces and occasional items - lighting, rugs, fabrics and decorative accessories.
Each piece is carefully selected and completely unique. The shop houses antique pieces sourced from all over Europe and lovingly restored and reinvented Portuguese velharias. Great items with eternal character and providence are teemed with charming collectables, some modern, some classic. The overall feel of Shabby Chic is of warmth, femininity and joie de vivre.
Matched with the European flavour of the furniture is a beautiful range of Asian ephemera, from vases to tableware, plus a selection of Thai silks and other cloth. Many pieces possess a special blending of Asian and European influence - a colonial charm reminiscent of Goa, Macau, or Timor Leste.
The store offers a bespoke soft furnishings service, with special fabrics sourced from England to India. Made to order items can include bed linens and coverings, curtains, cushions and furniture covers.
